On October 24, 2020, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on the St. Stephen waterfront trail. Participants gathered to commemorate the first section of the Coastal Link Trail being completed.

There were speeches by Darren Turner (ChairPerson of Coastal Link Trail), Tammy Scott-Wallace (Minister of Tourism, Heritage, and Culture), Kathy Blockus (St. Croix MLA), Allan MacEarchern (Mayor of St. Stephen), and Eric Gionet (Trans Canada Trail Director).

These speeches highlighted the incredible work and investment that has gone into the development of the trail so far. They also outlined the ways in which the trail has already benefited many by making the waterfront and outdoor activity more accessible. Everyone expressed their excitement for the future of the trail and the connection it will bring among countries, communities and people.  The ceremony finished with a collective cutting of the ribbon by MacEarchern, Scott-Wallace, Blockus, and Gionet.
